How To Improve Your Soccer Skills – 3 Helpful Passing Drills. Want To Learn How To Improve Your Soccer Skills? These 3 Fundamental Passing Drills Helped Me A Lot, And Will Help Take Your Skill Level Up A Notch Or Two.

You can learn how to improve your soccer skills by running certain fundamental drills. In this post we will take a look at 3 fundamental passing drills that can help.

 

However, you should probably read my previous post here first to get a better feel for these drills.

 

Gated Passing Drill- Soccer Passing Drills

  • Works on:
    • Passing Accuracy
    • Receiving
    • First Touch
    • Right and Left foot
  • What You Need:
    • A Ball
    • A Partner
    • 4 Cones
  • Instructions:
    • Each player stands 5 yards apart from each other with two cones and spreads them about a yard apart.
    • Each player stands behind the gated cones passing the ball back and forth in between the two cones making sure the ball comes through the gates each time.
    • Each player starts with a two-touch passing drill. Once to trap the ball the other to pass the ball.
    • Each player then moves to a one-touch passing drill. Passing the ball as soon as it gets to you.

Around the World Passing Drill-

  • Works On:
    • Passing Accuracy
    • First Touch
    • Right and Left foot
    • Receiving
  • What You Need:
    • A Ball
    • Two Cones
    • A Partner
  • Instructions:
    • Each player stands 10 yards apart with one cone in front of them.
    • The object is to pass the ball around the cones going clockwise or counter clockwise.

 

If you go clockwise then you will receive the ball with your right foot making sure the first touch is at an angle and behind the cone to line you up for the second touch passing with your left. But if you pass counter clockwise then you will receive with your left and pass with your right.

Soccer Horseshoes-U8 Passing Soccer Drills

  • Works On:
    • Driving/Passing the ball in the air
    • Trapping the ball out of the air
    • Soft Receiving Touch
  • What You Need:
    • A Ball
    • A Partner
    • 8 flat Cones
    • 2 tall cone
  • Instructions:
    • Each player makes a 3×3 box about 30 yards away from each other.
    • Each player places the taller cone in the middle of each box.
    • One player drives the ball in the air from his box to the other player’s box.
    • The player receiving the ball traps the ball out of the air trying to get the ball to hit the tall cone in the middle of the box.
    • 1 point for trapping the ball inside the box.
    • 2 points for hitting the taller cone with the ball inside the box.
    • 3 points for knocking the taller cone over inside the box.
    • First player to 11 wins.

 

If you consistently work on these 3 fundamental passing drills, I can guarantee that your accuracy will improve along with your receiving skills, first touch skills, and ball control skills. The more you practice the better you will become.
